New Member of Staff

 

Dr Basia Radlinska is a Clinical Psychology Registrar who provides client-centred psychological care for adults and young adults (16yrs +) across a range of mental health issues. Basia trained and worked at the renowned Black Dog Institute, and specialises in working with people who struggle with the symptoms of Bipolar disorder (I and II) and Major Depressive Disorder. Aside from individual therapeutic work, Basia facilitates a group program developed by the Black Dog Institute for people diagnosed with Bipolar disorder I or II, and/or Major Depressive Disorder. The group focuses on developing clients’ independent capacity to manage their own symptoms and stay well.

New Member of Staff

Kathleen is a Registered Psychologist and has spent several years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults within Victoria Mental Health Services. During that time she was worked extensively with young people who were at risk and experiencing acute mental health issues including major disorders such as; Psychosis, Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, Personality Disorders as well as treating trauma and behavioural difficulties.

Since relocating to Coffs Harbour, Kathleen provides therapeutic intervention for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural difficulties, as well as adults who present with range of mental health symptoms including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and stress.

Hypnosis enhances treatments for depression

Hypnosis can increase the effectiveness of psychological treatments for depression, an expert will tell the Australian Psychological Society’s (APS) College of Clinical Psychologists Conference in Melbourne today.

US keynote speaker Dr Michael Yapko, who is internationally recognised for his expertise in clinical applications of hypnosis, treating depression and developing short-term psychotherapies, says hypnosis has been dismissed as a gimmick by many, when in fact it has brought insights to neuroscience, cognition, suggestive language and information processing that have given it strong scientific credibility.

Wanted: Participants for Eye Tracking Research

Denise Andrade is currently completing an Honours degree in Psychology through Southern Cross University, Coffs Harbour and she is looking for participants for for Eye Tracking Research project. Along with fellow student Leni Schmidt and under the valued supervision of Dr Alison Bowling, Denise is researching the effects of age on visual attention and eye movements.  This study is important as it will assist us in better understanding healthy aging in attention and eye movements.

Meet Jessica Watters

Jessica Watters - Clinical Psychology Registrar

Jessica has a Masters in Psychology (Clinical) with a treatment focus in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She enjoys working with young people and adolescents. Jessica has received positive feedback for her work with adults and has an interest in working with anxiety disorders, depression, issues such as bullying, assertiveness, self esteem problems and self harm.
